Building on my earlier exploration of royalty inspired designs, I found myself drawn to the imagery of a treasure chest submerged in the ocean. This idea was born from fond memories of video games, especially The Legend of Zelda, where the thrill of discovering hidden treasures was a core part of the adventure. The vibrant hues of underwater chests, coupled with their intricate gold accents, provided a vivid visual palette. I decided to bring this concept to life by focusing on gold shiny spacer beads, reminiscent of the treasure’s luxurious glow, paired with rich blue tones to evoke the oceanic setting.
To start, I used vibrant blue as the foundation for the piece, symbolising the crystal clear waters of the sea. Adding layers of light and dark blue created depth and texture, much like the ocean’s many shades. The interplay of these colours brought a dynamic energy to the bracelet, mirroring the excitement of uncovering hidden gems. The decision to use gold shiny spacer beads was deliberate, they added a sense of opulence and perfectly captured the essence of treasure. These elements combined to evoke both the mystery and allure of a treasure chest waiting to be discovered beneath the waves.
While assembling the bracelet, I reflected on how much the concept of a “treasure” varies for different people. For some, it’s a physical object, while for others, it represents memories, achievements, or relationships. This realisation deepened my appreciation for how personal and meaningful jewellery can be, serving as a wearable symbol of someone’s own treasures. I aimed to encapsulate this sentiment in the bracelet’s design, making it both visually striking and emotionally resonant.
CONCLUSION
As I completed the piece, I was delighted with the result. The combination of blues and gold felt harmonious and full of character, capturing the essence of the inspiration perfectly. This project reaffirmed my love for drawing from personal experiences and cherished memories to create unique designs. It also sparked ideas for future projects, perhaps inspired by other iconic moments from Zelda or other meaningful adventures.
