Inspired by my appreciation for watches, I decided to craft my next bracelet design in homage to one of the iconic pieces in the watch world, the Rolex Submariner (Blue and Gold on this occasion). This design captured my attention early in my watch journey, standing out for its blend of royal blue and elegant gold. While my taste has since shifted to more understated pieces, the Submariner’s colour scheme has always held a special place for me. Initially, I experimented with various tones to best reflect that luxurious yet balanced combination. The vivid blue and striking gold had to be carefully integrated, as I wanted to capture the elegance without it overpowering the piece.
As I began working with these colours, I debated whether to incorporate white into the bracelet design due to the other colour that stands out on the dial. But as I tested different arrangements, the white didn’t seem to blend as harmoniously as I had hoped, instead, it detracted from the cohesive feel I was aiming for. Sticking to various shades of blue along with touches of gold proved more effective, keeping the bracelet sophisticated and aligned with the Submariner’s aesthetic. By using different blue tones, I created a subtle contrast within the primary colour that allowed the gold accents to shine even more.
In finalising the design, I incorporated gold spacer beads as highlights, which brought a minimalistic yet refined feel to the piece. This choice kept the focus on the blue and gold pairing, giving it an elegant yet wearable style that felt both luxurious and subtle. This approach not only captured the watch inspired elegance but also gave the bracelet a character of its own. It now stands as a potential future collection piece, sparking ideas for a whole line of watch inspired bracelets.
CONCLUSION
Reflecting on this process has me eager to explore more designs inspired by other watches, each with their own iconic colourways and character. This project was both creatively fulfilling and an exciting new direction for my designs, bringing together my passion for watches and jewellery in a unique way.
