Creating this latest bracelet based on the art I purchased at Comic Con has been an exercise in translating inspiration into tangible design. Reflecting on my thought process, I began by analysing the artwork’s primary colours: white, black, red and gold. My goal was to balance these colours proportionally, capturing the artwork’s composition within my bracelet. The predominant colours, white and black, served as the base, with red emerging as a focal point in select areas, while gold provided a delicate accent. I aimed to mirror the same attention to colour emphasis in my bracelet, ensuring that red and gold were visible yet understated, creating a cohesive balance that aligned with the source of inspiration.
Achieving harmony within the design required a more intentional approach to colour placement. Inspired by my appreciation for symmetry, I paid careful attention to how the artwork used white predominantly at the top and black toward the bottom. I translated this arrangement into the bracelet design, allowing the top portion to feature more white beads and the bottom to carry a heavier black influence. This alignment with the artwork’s colour positioning lent a sense of flow and balance to the bracelet. To further refine the design, I chose gold spacer beads instead of larger gold beads, subtly incorporating the gold elements without overpowering the piece.
After arranging everything on my bead board, I was pleased with how the colours and placement reflected the artwork, but new ideas for future pieces surfaced. I wondered if 5mm beads would enhance the design’s detail or if combining bead sizes could add depth. While the idea intrigued me, my current approach favours coordination and uniformity, so I decided to save that exploration for a future project. For now, staying true to the balanced aesthetic felt right.
CONCLUSION
In the end, this project was both an homage to the original artwork and a milestone in my bracelet making journey. As I continue to create, I hope to embrace more complex designs outside my comfort zone, layering my creative process with the confidence that each piece can be a unique expression of inspiration.
