Exploring Variations: Testing Colour Arrangements for a Future Collection

After testing variations in my previous designs, I decided to push the boundaries by experimenting with multiple arrangements using three distinct bead types in a ratio of 8:12:12. The goal of this exercise was to understand how different tones interact as foundational elements versus accents within a bracelet design. This test marks the beginning of a new creative phase, where I’ll explore colour arrangements systematically to uncover potential combinations for a future inspired collection. I’ve realised that arrangement and balance will play a critical role in setting my work apart, giving each piece a unique identity.

For this particular design, I selected light and vibrant colours: pink and turquoise, accented with silver beads. Drawing inspiration from past successes with colour combinations like blue and gold or green and gold, I chose to depart from using tonal variations of a single colour. Instead, I opted for two contrasting hues to examine their visual impact. This approach allowed me to reflect on my own growing collection and draw creativity from the patterns and palettes I’ve already explored, making this experiment a celebration of my evolving style.

Among the three variations I created, the turquoise dominant design with silver accents and pink as the highlight stood out as my favourite. Turquoise proved to be a strong foundation colour, and silver added a polished touch that complemented it beautifully. In contrast, when silver served as the highlight tone, it felt subdued and lacked the vibrancy needed to make the design pop. Similarly, the pink dominant arrangement appeared less cohesive, as the boldness of pink didn’t harmonise as seamlessly with the other colours. This process illuminated how critical the role of balance and colour hierarchy is in achieving a visually appealing design.

The experiment was both enlightening and enjoyable, providing me with valuable insights into my own creative instincts. It reinforced the importance of systematically testing arrangements to refine my understanding of what works best. This approach has the potential to unlock a “trinity” of colours that could define a signature collection, setting the stage for future designs that carry a cohesive yet diverse aesthetic.

CONCLUSION
This exploration of colour variations has proven to be an invaluable exercise in understanding the dynamics of bead arrangement and tonal harmony. The turquoise and silver combination emerged as a standout, offering a fresh perspective on how colours can work together to create impactful designs. This test phase represents a turning point in my creative journey, paving the way for a future collection rooted in experimentation and self-discovery. By continuing to draw inspiration from my growing portfolio, I am excited to see how these insights will shape the next chapter of my bracelet designs.
