Exploring Light Colours: My Latest Yellow and Red Bracelet Design

With this latest bracelet, I shifted from my typical design palette and explored lighter colours, particularly focusing on a light yellow bead. Until now, I’d often overlooked light yellow, as it hadn’t paired well with most colours in my collection. Its lighter tone made it challenging to balance alongside other bright shades, as it seemed to lose its impact or clash with its counterparts. I found that pairing it with dark colours gave it a better contrast, although I wanted to avoid combinations that leaned too close to familiar themes like a “bumblebee” pattern. Dark red, however, added an intriguing depth, subtly evoking the look of the sun, though not enough to take on a full solar theme.

Rather than working from an inspired theme, I opted to let the colors guide my creativity independently, almost allowing them to inspire each other. This approach helped me see how, in future projects, I could let the design evolve without needing a specific direction or influence. There’s a unique freedom in creating without a set theme, it encourages new perspectives and sometimes even surprising results. This design wasn’t a personal favourite, yet I appreciated its potential as a stepping stone to future work with light shades, possibly involving different materials like metal spacer beads with patterns or even a different string choice for added durability and sophistication.

Although this bracelet might be simpler in its look, its creation has given me ideas for expanding my techniques and styles going forward. While my journey currently centers on elastic string, I’m already envisioning how shifting to more complex materials might elevate my work over time. I’m learning that each piece, even those that don’t quite fit my original expectations, contributes valuable insights into both the design and materials that best fit my vision.

CONCLUSION

This bracelet represents my growth in working with light colours, especially challenging tones like yellow. While it wasn’t my most striking piece, the experience refined my eye for colour combinations and sparked ideas for more complex projects. As I continue experimenting, I’m excited to keep testing new materials and designs to build a unique and versatile collection.
